CAP Medal for Excellence in Teaching

The CAP Medal for Excellence in Teaching honours faculty members who have a comprehensive knowledge and deep understanding of their subject and who possess an exceptional ability to communicate their knowledge and understanding in such a way as to lead their students to high academic achievement in physics. All forms of undergraduate teaching may be considered including classroom lecturing, small group teaching, laboratory instruction, consultation with individual students, Honours Thesis supervision, design and development of courses, laboratory experiments and classroom demonstrations, introduction of innovative teaching methods, and production of educational materials such as textbooks, journal articles on teaching, films and videos.

The next medal will be awarded in 2010. The deadline for nominations is January 15, 2010. Nominees must be a member in good standing of the CAP or a Council-approved Canadian professional science society (see list).

NEW - Effective 2007 November 22, nominations for the CAP medals will be accepted through our secure, online submission site.  The medal guidelines, including a list of documentation required in support of the nomination, can be viewed by clicking here.  Please note that nominators can create a nomination and return at a later date to add the required documentation as it becomes available.  The nomination will only be considered submitted once all of the required documentation has been supplied. Nominators must be a member in good standing of the CAP. The online process can be accessed by logging in to the Member Services webpage.
