Entropy of a Black Hole Apparent Horizon


Coherent states are determined for the Schwarzschild black hole space-time in the framework of canonical quantisation of general relativity. The degeneracy associated with a density matrix for a given semi classical space-time after tracing over the coherent state wave function inside the apparent horizon is determined. This is shown to give rise to a entropy of the black hole which is proportional to the area of the apparent horizon.
