This year we celebrate the centenary of the incredible meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science (BAAS) in Winnipeg at the fledgling University of Manitoba. We will first look at the British Association itself, then at Winnipeg, and the University of Manitoba. Then what happened to see why such a meeting was next to impossible, then why it was such a resounding success.
