Modeling the effect of surface roughness on the sensitivity of microcantilever sensors using 28 million balls and springs

Energy minimization calculations were performed on gold coated microcantilevers with different surface roughness. It was found that cantilevers with rough surfaces deflect more than cantilevers coated with smooth surfaces.
