Malcolm Kennett has been an Assistant Professor of Physics at Simon Fraser University since 2005. He obtained a B.Sc and M.Sc in theoretical astrophysics from the University of Sydney, and then went on to obtain a Ph.D from Princeton University in 2002. He was a postdoc in the Theory of Condensed Matter Group at Cambridge University from 2002-2005 before taking up his current position. His research focuses on developing numerical and analytical approaches to condensed matter systems in which disorder and interactions are important and/or the system is out of equilibrium. He has published on spin glasses, diluted magnetic semiconductors, and electronic transport in two dimensional electron gases and organic and cuprate superconducting materials. He has taught and supervised research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels whilst at SFU. Dr. Kennett has been a member of the CAP since 2005 and is looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to the CAP as a Regional Councillor.
