What About Software to Tutor Physics Students in Canada?

The article describes software used in introductory physics courses at post-secondary institutions in Canada and the manner of integration of software into courses. The Division of Physics Education is currently developing a set of recommendations for an undergraduate physics curriculum in Canada. The article looks at the role that software might play in this curriculum and how software could be exchanged. As an example, the article describes the Modular Approach to Physics (MAP) developed in Alberta, a system of web-based physics tutorial software that allows the exchange of web-based course materials and the hierarchical arrangement of such materials to suit the needs of a given course.
