The annual CCUWiP is a national conference for undergraduate students studying physics or related majors. The CCUWiP’s goal is to encourage undergraduate women to pursue their physics education by providing them with the opportunity to experience a professional conference, gather information about graduate school and professions in physics, and to network with other women in physics of all ages with whom they can share experiences, advice, and ideas.
Through a collaboration between the CAP and the APS, the CCUWiP (Canadian) conference and the CUWiP (American) conferences are held at the same time and share a keynote speaker selected by an organizing committee comprised of representatives from each of the conference sites. For more information about the US-based conferences, please visit the APS CUWiP website.

We are very excited to announce that the 2023 CCUWiP will be hosted by the University of Regina. The local organizing committee is hopeful that this year’s event can be held in a hybrid format (an in-person conference that will be accessible remotely). However, they are also reserving the option to proceed to a virtual conference in the event that the in-person component isn’t feasible.
This means that CCUWiP 2023 is happening, no matter what, this January! So, save the dates and stay tuned for more details!
The CAP encourages Canadian undergraduate students (particularly those who might be interested in hosting the 2024 CCUWiP) to consider attending the 2023 CCUWiP hosted by the University of Regina!
Canadian students also have the opportunity to participate in the online 2023 APS CUWiP. The APS is planning an excellent virtual experience, with a separate program and networking opportunities (unfortunately attendance by Canadian students at the in-person CUWiP is not possible due to NSF grant restrictions). The virtual 2023 APS CUWiP features keynote speaker Nadya Mason from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. The attendance fee is $45 US. Applications close October 10, 2022 at 5:00 pm EDT. Apply Now!
The 2024 Conferences for Undergraduate Women in Physics will be held January 19-21, 2024. We are accepting expressions of interest to host the 2024 conference (in person, virtual, or hybrid). We encourage any student group interested in hosting a future CCUWiP to participate in the 2023 CCUWiP (see above).
Expressions of interest in hosting the 2024 CCUWiP should be submitted by January 15, 2023 (you have until Sep.30/23 to submit an expression of interest for 2025). Full applications for the 2024 CCUWiP are due by 5 pm EDT on Friday, February 10th, 2023. |
