Stephen Hawking, one of the world’s leading theoretical physicist died at his home in Cambridge, England early this morning.
Prof. Hawking was appointed distinguished research chair at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Nov. 2008. He travelled to Canada several times, including visits to SNOLAB in 1998 and 2012 and the Perimeter Institute in 2010 and 2012.
His death is a great loss for the physics community and the rest of the world. Today we honour Stephen Hawking’s incredible contributions to science and his lasting legacy. He inspired everyone who had the opportunity to meet him, or to learn from him during his remarkable life.
