Congratulations to the recipients of the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences today announced that the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics is being awarded with

one half to

Roger Penrose of the Univ. of Oxford (UK),

for the discovery that black hole formation is a robust prediction of the general theory of relativity

and the other half jointly to

Reinhard Genzel, Univ. of California, Berkeley (US) and the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (Germany),

and

Andrea Ghez, Univ. of Californa, Los Angeles (US)

for the discovery of a supermassive compact object at the centre of our galaxy.
