As you may know, the 57th Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference (CUPC 2021) will be running from November 4th to 7th, 2021. This year, the conference will take place virtually over zoom and will be hosted by *X University for the first time in CUPC history! In case you haven’t heard about it yet, all the relevant events and information is listed in this email. More details about anything can be found on our website: https://cupc.cap.ca

Conference Registration:

Delegate registration for CUPC 2021 is open till October 29th, 11:59 pm (EST), and is associated with a small fee of $20. The first 150 delegates who register before October 15th will be receiving a swag bag, which includes CUPC 2021 swag and various items from our sponsors! You may register for the conference using the following link: CUPC 2021 Registration. If you are unable to afford the registration fee, please send us an email and we will try our best to accommodate you.

Not for any student from York University who wishes to register may do so by sending an e-mail to the Department Chair at chphas@yorku.ca, with a copy to cupc2021@ryerson.ca to receive your registration instructions.  Provided you follow the registration instructions within 3 days of receiving the reply, the date of your e-mail requesting registration details will be used when establishing the first 150 registrants.

Pre-Conference Networking Night:

The CUPC 2021 Team is hosting pre-conference events to get delegates acquainted with one another prior to the conference weekend. Our second pre-conference night will be a networking night, happening on October 23rd from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm (EST). Please RSVP through this form: Pre-conference Night RSVP Form.

Our first pre-conference games night was a great success, so this is not something you want to miss out on!

Abstract Submissions:

As always, undergraduate students are encouraged to present their ongoing physics research either in the format of an oral, poster, or creative presentation. If you are interested in submitting an abstract to present at CUPC 2021, please do so using the following link: CUPC 2021 Abstract Submissions Form before October 8th, 11:59 pm (EST). Please note that you are able to edit your submitted responses to this form up until the October 8th deadline.

Science Communication Competition:

If you are still looking for ways to gain presentation experience but are not currently conducting research, the Science Communication Competition is a great way to be a part of CUPC. In teams of 1-3, students will describe a physics concept through a short 3-5 minute presentation. Full details on this competition can be found through this link: Science Communication Competition Information Document.

Registration for your team should be submitted by October 7th, at 11:59 pm (EST) through the following link: Science Communication Competition Registration Form.

*Please note that all undergraduate delegates are eligible to part-take in the Science Communication Competition, even if they are also submitting an abstract for an oral, poster, or creative presentation.

Volunteer at CUPC 2021:

Our team is looking for some dedicated volunteers to help run some events at CUPC 2021! All volunteers who meet our requirements will receive free delegate registration for the conference and access to all events. All details for volunteering can be found through this document: CUPC 2021 Volunteer Information. If you are interested in volunteering, please register by October 12th at 11:59 pm (EST) using the following link: CUPC 2021 Volunteer Registration Form.

If you have any questions you can DM us on Instagram or send us an email at cupc2021@ryerson.ca. We look forward to meeting you all (virtually) at our next pre-conference event and/or at CUPC 2021!

Kind Regards,
