Graduate Students: professional development opportunities at 2018 CAP Congress

Are you considering a career outside of academia? The CAP Congress is known as a place for students to practice presentation skills and network with potential employers in a friendly and relaxed setting. This year, the CAP is offering additional professional development opportunities during Congress for graduate students looking to stand out as they enter the job market.

The CAP is contracting Mitacs to lead a pre-Congress Physicists in the Workforce workshop on Sunday, June 10th at Dalhousie University in Halifax. This four-hour graduate student workshop will give you a chance to build your professional skills and help jump start your career. Congress will offer students other opportunities throughout the week including auxiliary lunchtime learning sessions and industry panel discussions.

Registration for the workshop and auxiliary opportunities will be available as part of the CAP Congress registration starting 2018 April 1st.  Details about how to register will be posted on the 2018 CAP Congress website in the coming weeks. If you are interested in this opportunity, we also encourage you to submit an abstract for a poster or oral presentation by the deadline of midnight this Wednesday, February 28th. CAP membership is required for students wishing to enter the 2018 Best Student Presentation competitions.

We look forward to learning with you in Halifax on June 10-15.
