IUPAP C17 Young Scientist Prizes

Posted on behalf of 2022 IUPAP C17 Chair

Dear colleagues,

As you may know, The IUPAP Commission 17 on Laser Physics and Photonics promotes every two years the C17 Young Scientist Prizes. The last edition of the award was in 2019, then the next one was scheduled for 2021, but it has been delayed due to the pandemic.

So with the support of the past C17 Chair Tsuneyuki Ozaki, of our new Vice-Chair Cather Simpson and our new Secretary Parinda Vasa, I am announcing the IUPAP Laser Physics and Photonics (C17) Young Scientist Prizes for 2022. The advertisement is attached.

Two prizes are available for award. One prize is for outstanding contributions of a fundamental nature, and the other is for outstanding contributions of an applied nature. The recipients must be no more than eight years from the date of completion of their PhD. Please note that applications from outstanding women and other underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged.

The advertisement will be distributed to liaison offices and professional societies via IUPAP, but we should duplicate this activity as well. Please forward the advert to your local/national professional societies, for inclusion in newsletters, on websites etc. And also please distribute it to your networks of colleagues and collaborators, and ask them to pass it on.

The deadline for nominations is 8 April 2022.

With my very best regards,

Roberto Pini

2022 C17 Chair
